AMI Primary Assistants Certificate Course

The AMI Primary Assistants Certificate Course is useful for parents, guardians, and adults working with children from all fields. The course offers an in depth understanding of Dr. Montessori's Approach to Education. Course work will consist of lectures, readings and discussion, practical session and material making. The course is designed such that it highlights the important work of an adult as an assistant to the child's development. It opens the way for adults to assist children both at home and in school. It helps interested adults work with children in a Montessori environment. Upon completion of the course requirements, participants are awarded a certificate from AMI.

Course Component:

Theory Lectures
The course lectures will touch upon some of the main principles of Montessori education.

  • Stages of child development
  • Development of language, movement and independence
  • Preparation of the environment
  • Role of an adult in a child's life
  • Observation
  • Social development
  • Freedom and Discipline
  • Order

Practical Sessions
The course also includes practical sessions.

  • Music
  • Art
  • Material making

Observation
Child observation is a requirement for certification. Students will need to find a child under the age of 6 years for 9 hours of observation. They will be required to record and submit a written report of their observations.

Assignments
Students will need to submit written work at regular intervals during the course. These assignments will include theory essays, material making and observation reports. All assignments must be completed in order to receive the certificate.

Eligibility

Candidates from all walks of life and from different professions are welcome. The course is open to anyone who wants to know more about the Montessori philosophy.

To apply, the following must be submitted:

  • Application Form duly filled in and signed by the applicant
  • One recent passport size photo
  • Fees

The admissions will close on Saturday, April 22, 2017 by 3:00 PM. Application and fees should reach us before this date.

Attendance

In order to receive the certificate students must have 90% attendance. Students with attendance below 90% will not be eligible for an AMI certificate.

Course Venue, Schedule and Timings:

The Course will be held at : Lumbini Montessori House of Children; 5-10-188/1 Hill Fort Road, near Adarsh Nagar, Hyderabad 500004, TS. It will be held over two weeks as follows:

Week 1 Monday, April 24, 2017 to Friday, April 28, 2017
Week 2 Monday, May 1, 2017 to Friday, May 5, 2017

The course timings will be from 8.45 AM to 3:15 PM every day. A schedule will be provided to the students at the start of the course. Students will be asked to be punctual. Latecomers will be marked absent for half the session.

Language

All lectures will be in English. Course work will need to be presented in English.

Certification

The AMI Primary Assistants Certificate is awarded to those who complete all the course requirements. In order to receive the AMI Assistants Certificate, the applicant should:

 

  • Have 90% attendance
  • Submit all the assignments
  • Complete the required hours of observation and submit an Observation report
  • Complete the required material making

 

Fees

Indian Nationals may pay the fees by means of a crossed local cheque or Demand Draft in favour of The Montessori Training and Research Trust payable in Hyderabad. Foreign Nationals may pay the fees by Bank Draft/Cashier's Cheque in US Dollars in favour of The Montessori Training and Research Trust payable in Hyderabad. The fee may also be sent in Pound Sterling or Euros equivalent to the fee quoted in US dollars. We regret we do not accept payments by Direct Bank Transfer. .

Trainer

Teenaz Reporter, AMI Primary Trainer (3-6 level), gained her AMI Montessori Diploma at the 3-6 age level training at the Montessori Training and Research Centre in the year 1998-1999. She began her career in India in the Taraporewalla's Montessori House of Children in Hyderabad. Subsequently over a period of eight years she expanded her experience working in Montessori schools in New York and Maryland. In 2009 she began the rigorous AMI Training of Trainers Programme in Hyderabad and subsequently spent two years in Chennai at Navadisha Montessori Foundation. She has served on the faculty of the AMI courses in Thrissur, Kerala, Koramangala, Bangalore, Hangzhou and Jia Ding, China. She is currently on the faculty of the AMI course in Shenzhen, China. In 2015, she revived the AMI Primary Diploma Course in Hyderabad under the auspice of the Montessori Training and Research Trust and is currently the Director of Training.
